What is a UV Phototherapy - Psoriasis Lamp?  The PH-36 Psoriasis Lamp is a Ultraviolet Lamp with high UVB output that is used to treat certain skin conditions such as Psoriasis, Eczema, and other skin conditions. UV phototherapy is widely accepted as an effective option to treat psoriasis. This phototherapy lamp is intended for psoriasis treatment of mild or localized psoriasis. If the summer sun's UV rays help clear up your Psoriasis, then our UV Sunlamp will do the same thing, but quicker.

The PH-36 UVB Psoriasis Lamp does require a doctor's prescription, and as with all medical treatment options you should always consult your doctor or dermatologist.

The approximate UVB and UVA output averages:  35% UVB +/- and 65% UVA +/-.

A special feature of this PH-36 UV therapy lamp for Psoriasis is that it can be used alone with it's own mini table top stand (shown on left), or it can be attached to the adjustable tripod floor stand (a newer & better floor stand is now used. Similar to the one shown, but better). When you order the floor stand unit, we will also include the table top stand free with your order. The Cooper Hewitt psoriasis lamp is a "sectional" lamp meaning that you can treat a section of your body at once, but not the whole body at once. The floor stand is height adjustable and lowers as far as 20 inches and raises up to 62 inches. The sunlamp head mounted on top of the floor stand can then be pointed at any angle and locked into position. The height and angle options provide you with numerous options for positioning yourself with the lamp. The tripod legs of the floor stand fold up for easy storage after use.

Another benefit of the high Ultraviolet B ray output is that UVB is the most beneficial Ultraviolet ray for generating Vitamin D within the body.

How is the PH-36 Psoriasis Lamp different from your other UV sunlamps?  Aside from being a licensed medical device the primary difference between the Cooper Hewitt PH-36 UV Psoriasis Lamp and regular UV sunlamps is its high UVB output that is particularly effective in treating psoriasis. The UVB output from this lamp is on average approximately 7-10% higher than regular sunlamps. The 7-10% higher UVB output is certainly beneficial, but it is not essential to the effectiveness when compared to non-prescription UV Sunlamps. Many of our customers choose our non-prescription sunlamps as a less expensive alternative, and one that does not require a prescription.

Also: many people with Psoriasis have discovered that using a tanning bed helps their Psoriasis, and we're proud to say that these are more effective because they have a much higher percentage of the needed UVB rays - the rays that help treat Psoriasis. Tanning bed bulbs use a different kind of bulb, that on average have only about 5% UVB, so our PH-36 UVB output is much higher.

Will UV Phototherapy - Psoriasis Light Treatment work for me?  First, we must tell you to always consult your physician/dermatologist. That said, if you notice improvement in your skin's condition during the summer months when you are outside, this is mostly due to the UV exposure you are receiving from the sun. UV phototherapy is widely accepted as an effective cure for psoriasis and some other skin conditions, but there are also other treatments such as topical creams and medications that you can ask your doctor/dermatologist about.

Psoriasis Treatment  Many of our customers purchase the PH-36 Psoriasis Light or one of our nonprescription sunlamps because they don't have the time (or money) to regularly drive to their doctors office, park, wait, then have their UV psoriasis treatments. Will I tan from this UV lamp?  Generally, Yes. Your own skin 'type' and the amount of exposure time will determine how much you will tan. Generally, patients using the Psoriasis Lamp have much less exposure time than those using our UV sunlamps for tanning, therefore they will tan less, but some tanning is inevitable with UV light exposure.

Will this UV lamp help generate Vitamin D?  Yes, absolutely. The UV rays that are emitted will generate Vitamin D within the body, a scientific fact.

How long will it take to get my order? Your order will be processed and shipped out within 1 business day. These units ship directly from the manufacturers warehouse in KY with UPS ground. Delivery takes 1-5 business days depending on your location - the distance from KY.

Pro's & Con's:  as with all UV ray exposure there are benefits and risks, consult your physician. Also, there are a large number of opinions, reports, and articles that can be found on the internet discussing the benefits and risks of UV phototherapy as well as tanning.

You are then guaranteed that it will function and operate properly. The PH-36 also comes with a manufacturers 6 month warranty. However, we cannot accept used UV lamps back into our inventory - NO RETURNS ARE ACCEPTED.

Insurance:  we do not process insurance claims for our customers or participate in insurance processing, but you will receive a detailed receipt that you can submit to your insurance company. As most of us know, insurance claims can be time consuming and frustrating, so we remind you that we do NOT participate in insurance processing, we don't fill out paperwork, and we do not provide private company information for submission to insurance companies. - We are being emphatic here because a couple times every year a customer sends us a big pile of paperwork with instructions like "fill these out and mail them to my insurance company", or they will ask for Social Security numbers or Tax ID numbers because they are trying to submit us/our company as being a 'medical service provider'. We are NOT a 'Medical Services Provider'. A 'Medical Service Provider' is something like a medical clinic, medical supply store, physical therapy instructor, etc...

OPTIONS: to the prescription psoriasis treatment lamp:  our regular UV lamps, most commonly used for tanning are also effective UV therapy lamps. The primary difference is that the UVB output is approximately 7-10% less, and they do NOT require a prescription and are less expensive. Again, always consult your doctor or dermatologist.

Prescription Info:  we MUST receive a doctors written prescription (no call ins) either by mail or by fax. We can only ship your PH-36 UV therapy lamp once we have received the prescription. The product "PH-36 Psoriasis Phototherapy Lamp" or any similar wording must be included on the prescription. Most customers fax in their prescriptions to speed up the process.
